Iran strikes US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain with missiles and drones
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched coordinated missile and drone attacks on United States military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain, targeting air‑defence systems, radar installations and administrative buildings. The assaults were described as retaliation for a series of nightly US airstrikes on Iranian sites, marking the tenth consecutive night of US operations.
Similar strikes were reported on US assets in Jordan and on a US‑operated base in Jordan’s Al‑Azraq (Muwaffaq Salti) area, where shelters and aircraft hangars were hit. Jordanian air‑defence forces intercepted additional projectiles, and Kuwait’s armed forces reported neutralising hostile missiles and drones.
In response, US Central Command continued its campaign against Iran, striking Iranian command centres, maritime facilities and missile‑launch sites. The escalating exchange has prompted regional warnings, with the Houthi rebels in Yemen threatening to block Saudi ports and neighbouring states such as Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain calling for de‑escalation. Iranian officials also signalled that renewed negotiations with the United States could be possible if Iranian national interests are respected.
The heightened hostilities have raised concerns about a broader regional conflict, affecting energy‑shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz and prompting increased US military presence across the Middle East.
