Irma López Arroyo wins SUTSMP union election in Pachuca
Irma María de Jesús López Arroyo has been elected to lead the Sindicato Único de Trabajadores al Servicio del Municipio de Pachuca (SUTSMP) for the 2026-2029 term. Representing the Blue Slate, “Unidad y Democracia Sindical,” López Arroyo secured 593 votes, defeating Pablo Anaya García of the Green Slate, “Por un sindicato para todos,” who received 513 votes.
The election saw a high turnout, with 1,126 total votes cast out of a membership of 1,393, including 20 null votes. This voting process marks the end of a two-decade period of leadership under Percy Leonardo Bustamante Espinosa, whose recognition had been denied by the Arbitration Tribunal in 2024.
López Arroyo will head an executive committee that includes Juan Fernando Amaro Hernández, Marcela Bautista Bautista, Arturo Pelcastre Aguilar, Dulce Claudia Traspeña Moreno, Aldo Rey Peña Escamilla, Rosa María Castelán Pelcastre, Karla Olivia Sánchez Orta, and Fernando Lazcano Cruz. The new leadership awaits formal certification by the Arbitration Tribunal.
