Argentina implements tax moratorium and warns of account seizures

A new tax moratorium program has been implemented for small taxpayers and companies with overdue obligations. The plan, approved by the Deliberative Council, offers tiered interest relief to mitigate economic pressure. Taxpayers can receive a 90% discount on interests for single lump-sum payments made before September 30, with decreasing discounts for installment plans ranging from 80% for up to three installments to 50% for up to twelve installments. Financing for up to 48 installments is also available.

Concurrently, tax authorities such as ARCA, ARBA, and AGIP have warned that unresolved tax debts can lead to the seizure of bank accounts, savings accounts, current accounts, and funds held in virtual wallets. Such measures are not automatic but require an enforceable debt, a fiscal execution procedure, and a judicial order. These actions aim to recover unpaid obligations including VAT, income tax, and property taxes after formal notifications have been ignored.
