James Wehr killed in fiery McLaren crash in Irvine

James Wehr, a 27-year-old car influencer and founder of the South OC Cars and Coffee automotive show, died in a high-speed McLaren crash in Irvine, California. The accident, which occurred shortly after midnight on September 13, also killed his passenger, 22-year-old Alexis “Lexi” Kramer.

Dashcam footage shows the vehicle accelerating from a green light, swerving on what appeared to be a wet patch of pavement, striking a curb, and hitting a tree before splitting in two and bursting into flames. While the night was reported as clear, Wehr’s widow, Emma, has retained attorney Corey Higgins to investigate the source of the water on the roadway, suggesting it may have been a contributing hazard.

Controversy has emerged regarding the relationship between the victims. Kramer’s family stated she believed Wehr was separated from his wife, though Orange County court records show no divorce filings. Following the crash, Kramer’s family launched a GoFundMe to assist with funeral costs and transporting her body from California to Florida.
