Fatal McLaren crash in Irvine, California

Overview

On September 13, 2026, a high-speed single-vehicle crash in Irvine, California, resulted in the deaths of 27-year-old James Wehr and 22-year-old Alexis ‘Lexi’ Kramer. Wehr, a car influencer and co-founder of the automotive gathering South OC Cars and Coffee, was driving a purple 2019 McLaren when the vehicle accelerated from a light, lost control, struck a curb, and collided with a tree near Culver Drive and Deerfield Avenue. The impact caused the car to split in two and ignite.

Kramer, a bartender from Lakeland, Florida, had traveled to California to meet Wehr after connecting on Instagram approximately one month prior. Kramer’s family has launched a GoFundMe to assist with funeral costs and the transportation of her body from California to Florida. The Irvine Police Department’s Traffic Accident Investigation Team continues to examine the crash site, focusing on vehicle status, speed, and road conditions.
