James Wehr killed in high-speed McLaren crash in Irvine

Two people were killed in a high-speed single-vehicle crash in Irvine, California, early Sunday morning. The victims have been identified as James Wehr, 27, and Alexis “Lexi” Kramer, 22.

Wehr was the co-founder of South OC Cars and Coffee, a prominent weekly automotive gathering. According to the Irvine Police Department, the 2019 McLaren was stopped at a red light on Culver Drive when the light turned green. The driver accelerated at a high rate of speed, lost control, struck a curb, and collided with a tree. The impact caused the vehicle to split in two and ignite.

Kramer, a Hooters calendar model from Florida, had traveled to California to meet Wehr after connecting on Instagram. Her family noted that the pair had spent the weekend together, including attending Wehr’s car show, before the fatal accident occurred.
