Isaac del Toro concludes historic 2026 cycling season

Mexican cyclist Isaac del Toro has concluded his 2026 season following a 28th-place finish at Il Lombardia. The 22-year-old rider from Ensenada, Baja California, noted that knee discomfort following the World Championships impacted his performance in recent races.

Del Toro’s season with UAE Team Emirates-XRG was historic, marked by 12 professional victories and becoming the first Mexican cyclist to reach the final podium of the Tour de France. His major achievements this year include winning the general classification at the UAE Tour, Tirreno-Adriatico, and the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, alongside winning two stages at the UAE Tour.

Other notable results include winning the Lidl Deutschland Tour prologue, the GP de Montreal, and securing the white jersey at the Tour de France. Despite a mid-season injury during the Vuelta al País Vasco that sidelined him for two months, Del Toro maintained a highly successful campaign before entering a period of rest and recovery.
