Isabella Nardoni case: Mother seeks return of convicts to prison

Ana Carolina Oliveira, the mother of Isabella Nardoni, has called for the return of Alexandre Nardoni and Anna Carolina Jatobá to closed prison regimes. The request comes as the Superior Tribunal de Justiça (STJ) reviews an appeal questioning whether the conditions of the convicts' progression to an open regime are being respected.

The appeal, presented by the Associação do Orgulho LGBTQIAPN+, alleges evidence that the convicts are not adhering to judicial restrictions. Specific concerns include Alexandre Nardoni’s professional routine, his movement during certain hours, and the accuracy of the address provided to the judiciary. Reports from residents in Santana and Barueri have also been cited regarding their presence in those areas.

The STJ's Fifth Panel began analyzing the case in a virtual environment on August 27, with proceedings expected to conclude by September 2. The case is under the rapporteurship of Minister Ribeiro Dantas. Anna Carolina Jatobá was previously sentenced to 26 years for the 2008 death of five-year-old Isabella Nardoni and is currently serving her sentence in an open regime.
