Iserlohn woman loses money to online phishing scam

A 40-year-old woman in Iserlohn, Germany, lost money to a phishing scam while attempting to sell used shoes through an online portal. After receiving an offer, the victim was directed to a fake website via a phishing email that appeared to be from the sales platform.

The email contained a subtle typo in the sender's domain, which the seller failed to notice. Upon following the link and entering her account details, an unauthorized immediate transfer was initiated from her account.

Police have noted that this specific scam frequently targets online sellers by luring them from legitimate payment systems to fraudulent websites to steal login credentials. Authorities advise sellers to conduct all transactions strictly within the official online service accounts to ensure payment security and dispute protection.
