Isis Valverde discusses concealing large tattoo for acting roles

Brazilian actress Isis Valverde revealed that a large tattoo on her ribs, which she received at age 21, often requires makeup to be concealed during film and television productions.

In an interview on the YouTube program ‘Ambulatório da Moda’, the 39-year-old actress explained that the issue is not the design itself—which depicts two kissing masks inspired by ‘Gone with the Wind’—but rather its large scale. She noted that the size of the piece caused her significant regret shortly after it was completed, even leading her to tears.

Valverde stated that the experience has influenced her approach to body art; she currently has eight tattoos but avoids placing them on her arms or legs to ensure they can be easily covered for various roles. Despite the logistical inconvenience, she maintains that the tattoo holds personal meaning, representing the coexistence of comedy and tragedy.
