ISJCT journalism institute inaugurated in N’Djamena

The Higher Institute of Journalism and Communication of Chad (ISJCT) was officially inaugurated in N’Djamena on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Initiated by the NGO Media for Development (MEDEV) with support from technical and financial partners, the institute aims to strengthen professional training in the media and communication sectors within the country.

The inaugural class will consist of 40 students divided equally between two tracks: journalism-image reporting and corporate communication/press relations. Mahamat Mamadou Djimtebaye, coordinator of MEDEV, stated that the institution intends to grow progressively to ensure high teaching quality. In addition to initial training, the ISJCT plans to offer professional certificates for journalists and communicators already active in the field.

N’Djamena Mayor Senoussi Hassana Abdoulaye noted that the institute provides a vital opportunity for youth to gain professional skills locally, allowing them to remain connected to Chadian social and cultural realities rather than seeking education abroad.
