Islam Makhachev expresses interest in boxing match with Conor McGregor

UFC fighter Islam Makhachev has expressed interest in a boxing match against Conor McGregor. The prospect emerged during a conversation between Makhachev and Turki Alalshikh, a co-founder of Zuffa Boxing.

Makhachev reported that Alalshikh contacted McGregor to gauge his willingness to fight Makhachev in a boxing ring. Makhachev stated he accepted the idea and suggested Alalshikh consult Dana White regarding the proposal. While acknowledging he is not a high-level professional boxer, Makhachev expressed confidence in his ability to compete against other MMA fighters in a boxing setting.

This potential matchup comes as Makhachev prepares for a welterweight title defense against Ian Garry at UFC 330. At 34 years old, Makhachev noted the importance of fighting more frequently, aiming for bouts every three to four months, as he considers the remaining duration of his professional career.
