Islamabad High Court orders inquiry into fatal Pims hospital fire

The Islamabad High Court has ordered respondents to submit replies within 15 days regarding a petition seeking a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) inquiry into a fatal fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).

The incident, which occurred on August 26, resulted in the deaths of fourteen newborn babies in the Mother and Child Hospital’s ward. The petition, filed by Nasir Azim Khan, alleges gross negligence, administrative failure, and dereliction of duty by hospital officials. The petitioner is seeking an independent inquiry and accountability for the Pims executive director and other responsible officers.

Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar also directed authorities to submit a report on the incident, including para-wise comments and any reports previously presented to the prime minister.
