Islamabad High Court restricts use of state resources for PTI protest

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a directive prohibiting the use of state resources for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) planned nationwide protest and long march on September 27.

A larger bench, led by Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar, disposed of a plea challenging the protest on the grounds that it could disrupt traffic, business, and routine life in the federal capital. The court ruled that no political party or leader has the lawful right to occupy public roads, highways, or buildings in a manner that obstructs access to medical facilities or educational institutions.

The order mandates that provincial chief ministers ensure no public funds, official machinery, vehicles, or government equipment are used to facilitate the march. Additionally, the court stated that no public servant should be compelled to participate in any rally or procession.
