Islamabad security heightened for PTI march amid failed terror talks

Security in Islamabad has been significantly heightened ahead of a planned protest march by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Authorities have deployed approximately 38,000 law enforcement personnel, a substantial increase from the fewer than 20,000 officers present during previous demonstrations. Officials have equipped the force with modern technology and granted increased operational autonomy to manage potential crowds and maintain order.

Simultaneously, political tensions persist as recent negotiations between the federal government and PTI regarding counter-terrorism efforts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have ended without a resolution. The talks failed primarily due to disagreements over the provincial government's role in anti-terrorism operations and its cooperation with federal security agencies. The federal government sought written assurances regarding police law reforms and the prevention of terrorist movement within the province, but a final agreement was not reached.
