Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina to elect new reisu-l-ulema
The Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina will hold an election on October 10 at the Gazi Husrev-beg Library in Sarajevo to select its 14th reisu-l-ulema. The Assembly confirmed three candidates for the position: Mostar Mufti Salem ef. Dedović, Sarajevo Mufti Nedžad ef. Grabus, and the Director of the Rijasat's Religious Affairs Administration, Mensur ef. Malkić.
Each candidate has outlined distinct priorities for the institution. Salem ef. Dedović emphasizes financial independence through vakufs, missionary work, and a stronger presence for Bosniaks in minority areas. Nedžad ef. Grabus focuses on institutional autonomy, the social status of imams, and the inclusion of youth, women, and the diaspora. Mensur ef. Malkić advocates for quality education, adapting to digital challenges, and strengthening the status of imams to ensure institutional stability.
