Ismail Lasim denies resigning as Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar
Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim has denied social media reports claiming he has signed a resignation letter. Describing the rumors as “political games,” Ismail and his press secretary, Mohd Fasha Musthafa, confirmed that the Menteri Besar continues to perform his duties as usual.
The denial follows a period of administrative and palace tension in the state. On September 20, the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, revoked the appointments of 10 EXCO members previously selected by Ismail. This tension stems from reports that Ismail signed a proclamation to remove Tuanku Muhriz from the throne on August 3, shortly after being sworn in. Ismail has maintained that he was forced to sign the document against his will.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail informed Parliament that the investigation paper regarding Ismail’s claim of being coerced into signing the proclamation has been referred to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) for further instruction. Police have recorded statements from four individuals as part of the ongoing investigation.
