Isola di Capo Rizzuto opposition parties break with local administration

Political opposition in Isola di Capo Rizzuto is intensifying as both the Lega Salvini Premier and the Partito Democratico (PD) have broken ties with the municipal administration led by Mayor Maria Grazia Vittimberga.

Lega Salvini Premier announced a definitive break, citing years of ignored communications and a lack of dialogue regarding strategic territorial planning and local funding. The party claimed it has been excluded from administrative programming and that its formal inquiries via certified email (PEC) have gone unanswered, specifically regarding water management and purification issues.

Simultaneously, the Partito Democratico announced its withdrawal from the City Council. The PD stated the decision was made to avoid being complicit in the majority's silence regarding administrative issues and environmental concerns. The party highlighted the upcoming arrival of an access commission—the third in 23 years—and criticized the administration for postponing serious political discussions until after the summer break.
