Israel accused of breaching Gaza ceasefire as Palestinians protest
Israel is reported to be moving towards canceling the U.S.-mediated cease‑fire in Gaza, expanding its military presence and conducting frequent strikes despite the agreement that began on 10 October 2025. Palestinian officials and international observers say the violations include border closures, restrictions on humanitarian aid and daily attacks that have killed over 1,000 civilians since the truce started.
On 23 June, dozens of Gaza residents gathered outside Al‑Shifadi Hospital to demand protection and condemn the breaches. Demonstrators, joined by families of victims and human‑rights groups, called on the international community to enforce the cease‑fire. Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem warned that the systematic violations could constitute a genocide, while the United Nations highlighted the scale of civilian deaths and the estimated $70 billion reconstruction cost.
The situation reflects ongoing tensions between Israeli security objectives and Palestinian civilian safety, with broader diplomatic implications involving the United States and other mediators.
