Israel airstrikes kill two Hamas commanders in Gaza

The Israeli Defense Forces announced that airstrikes in Gaza on the Deir al‑Balah area and the Sati camp killed two senior Hamas operatives involved in the Oct 7 assault: Abdallah Antan Taha Abu al‑Tayef of the elite Nukhba unit and Jalal Sobiech, commander of the Daraj‑Tuffah battalion. The strikes were described as aimed at eliminating the threat posed by the militants, who continued to plan attacks despite the cease‑fire.

In a separate development, Bar Asraf, a 30‑year‑old survivor of the Oct 7 Hamas attack who had been closely linked to Liron Barta – a 26‑year‑old barmaid killed while working at the Nova music festival – took his own life beside her grave in the West Bank. According to his sister, Asraf was found dead with a weapon nearby, having spent the night at the burial site after a wedding ceremony.

Both incidents underscore the ongoing personal and military fallout from the Oct 7 conflict.
