Israel and Lebanon Sign US‑Brokered Security Framework, Netanyahu Calls It Historic

Israel and Lebanon have signed a three‑party security framework in Washington, mediated by the United States. The agreement outlines a phased Israeli withdrawal from designated areas in southern Lebanon while the Israeli army will remain until Hezbollah is fully disarmed and security threats to northern Israel are eliminated.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the deal as a "historic achievement" that strikes a major blow to Iran and Hezbollah, praising Lebanon’s “courage” in accepting the terms. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio hailed the accord as the first step in a longer process toward lasting peace, and a trilateral military coordination committee will be established to oversee implementation.
