Israel announces deaths of Hamas commanders in Gaza
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced the deaths of several high-ranking Hamas operatives in recent operations within the Gaza Strip.
Among those killed is Muhammad Hamad Muhammad Gabain, identified as a commander in the Hamas military wing. The IDF states Gabain was involved in the detention of nine hostages taken during the October 7 attacks and had recently been conducting strikes against Israeli troops and civilians in violation of a ceasefire.
Additionally, the IDF confirmed the death of Saher Nidal Latfi Sakr. Sakr was identified as the individual seen in widely circulated video footage riding a motorcycle and kidnapping Noa Argamani and Avinatan Or from the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023. Military officials described Sakr as being affiliated with international jihadist organizations and involved in supplying weapons to Hamas.
In a separate operation, the IDF reported the killing of Ibrahim Fawzi Ismail Mohsen, a commander of the Nukhba, Hamas’s elite unit, in the Nuseirat refugee camp. These military actions continue despite a US-mediated ceasefire, with the Gaza Ministry of Health reporting that over 1,300 people have been killed by Israeli attacks since the ceasefire was announced.
