Israeli police arrest 10 suspects after West Bank settler attacks

Israeli police have arrested 10 suspects following a wave of settler violence in the West Bank during the annual Palestinian olive harvest. The arrests were conducted during a pre-dawn operation named ‘Olive Leaf,’ involving the Israel Police, the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), and the IDF.

The violence included two major incidents over the weekend. On Friday, Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine was brutally attacked by a group of masked settlers near Abu Falah. Levine sustained serious injuries, including four broken vertebrae, a broken rib, and a finger injury that required surgery. On Saturday, a group of European diplomats and officials, including representatives from France, Belgium, and Poland, were attacked in the village of Taybeh. French mayor Bernard Baudoux was also reportedly assaulted during the encounter.

The incidents have drawn significant international condemnation. U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee described the arrests as a ‘very positive development’ in punishing those responsible for the attack on Levine. European officials and Canadian representatives have called for increased accountability and protection for civilians and diplomats in the region.
