Israel arrests IDF soldiers, civilian for Iran spying and Palestinian officer for terrorist plot

Three Israeli Defense Forces soldiers and a civilian were indicted by the Haifa District Attorney’s Office on charges of spying for Iran. Prosecutors say the suspects photographed sensitive sites such as an air force technical school, train stations and shopping centers, and were instructed to purchase weapons in exchange for payment. Communications with Iranian handlers were conducted via Telegram between January and March 2025, and the arrests took place in March after a joint investigation by Shin Bet, the Israel Police, Lahav 433 and military police.

In separate operations, Israeli police arrested a Palestinian Authority police officer and an ISIS member suspected of planning imminent terrorist attacks near Hebron. The covert raids took place in the villages of Dura and Deir al‑Asal, as well as the Askar camp in Nablus, leading to the suspects’ surrender after being besieged.

Both cases illustrate ongoing Israeli security efforts against foreign espionage and domestic terror threats.
