Israel attacks medical ambulance in southern Lebanon, injuring paramedics

An Israeli drone fired guided missiles at a vehicle of the Islamic Health Authority attached to the Lebanese Civil Defence near Nabatieh al‑Fawqa in southern Lebanon on 23 July 2026. The strike wounded two paramedics (reports note several injuries) and caused damage to the ambulance they were operating.

The attack came amid ongoing cross‑border hostilities after a United States‑mediated framework agreement signed in late June, which established a security zone in southern Lebanon but was rejected by Hezbollah. Since the escalation that began on 2 March, Lebanese authorities have recorded more than 4,300 deaths and over 12,000 injuries. Sporadic Israeli artillery and drone strikes continue despite a recent US‑Iran truce, underscoring the fragile situation in the border region.
