Israel attacks on Lebanon kill 4,303, injure 12,202

The Lebanese Ministry of Health said that Israeli attacks from 2 March to 4 July 2026 have killed 4,303 people and wounded 12,202, even though a cease‑fire is in force.

The violence continues despite a framework agreement signed on 26 June in Washington, mediated by the United States. The deal calls for a phased Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon and the transfer of security control to the Lebanese army in two pilot zones, but Israel has not yet withdrawn.

Lebanon’s Justice Minister warned, “We will not accept losing a single inch of our land,” insisting the agreement obliges a full Israeli pull‑out. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the pilot‑project arrangement, while Hezbollah secretary‑general Naim Kassem denounced it as a threat to Lebanon’s sovereignty.

U.S. officials, including General Joseph Clearfield, have visited the area to discuss cease‑fire monitoring. Former U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly asked Netanyahu to postpone further operations so as not to affect communications with Iran.
