Israel completes tests of upgraded Iron Dome with higher firing rate and greater precision
Israel’s Ministry of Defense and defence contractor Rafael have finished a large‑scale series of trials for an upgraded Iron Dome air‑defence system. Building on lessons learned during the recent war and operations against Iran, the tests examined new capabilities against rockets, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as the system’s ability to handle higher‑intensity fire‑bursts.
Key improvements demonstrated include a faster firing cadence and enhanced target‑tracking accuracy. The trials also integrated the high‑power laser system known as “Or Eitan” (Eytan), with joint‑operation scenarios run from a unified command and control suite, creating a layered defence architecture. Israeli officials said the successful results add a significant new layer to the country’s air‑defence readiness for the coming decade.
