Israel breaches Lebanese airspace 125 times in four days, UN reports
UN spokesperson Farhan Haq told a press briefing in New York that Israel recorded 125 violations of Lebanon's airspace between July 30 and August 2, with a cumulative flight time of more than 418 hours. UNIFIL observed armed drones and surveillance aircraft operating near its positions during the period.
Haq added that Israeli forces also fired artillery near the Litani River and conducted operations in Lebanese territorial waters in the Mediterranean. The violations come despite a cease‑fire that began after Israel launched intensive air attacks on March 2, occupying numerous southern villages. The Lebanese government says the conflict has displaced over one million people, and the Health Ministry reports roughly 4,300 deaths.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced a three‑week extension of a temporary cease‑fire on April 24 and a further 45‑day extension on May 17, following U.S.‑mediated talks. A framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel was signed on June 26 after the fifth round of negotiations in Washington.
