Israel conducts air and ground attacks in southern Lebanon despite ceasefire

Despite an existing ceasefire agreement intended to facilitate the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory, the Israeli military has conducted air and ground operations in southern Lebanon. Attacks have targeted several regions, including Sur, Merciiyyun, Bint Jbeil, and Nabatieh.

In the Sur region, Israeli warplanes conducted airstrikes on the city of Sur and the town of Mansuri, alongside bombardments in Mecdelzun. In Merciiyyun, artillery fire and military vehicle movements were reported, accompanied by land destruction activities and fires in the Merciiyyun Plain. In the Nabatieh and Bint Jbeil districts, Israeli forces utilized artillery, machine-gun fire, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to target specific locations, including the use of guided missiles.

These military actions coincide with reports of land fortification through earth barricades and significant military movement. While specific casualty figures for these latest strikes have not been fully released, one individual was reportedly injured by exploding ammunition remnants in Tayr Debba. This escalation follows a period of intense conflict that has previously resulted in over 1 million displaced persons in Lebanon and thousands of casualties.
