Israel conducts airstrikes in Gaza and southern Lebanon
Israeli military operations have resulted in casualties in both the Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon. In Gaza, two Palestinians were killed in separate airstrikes. One strike near Khan Younis targeted individuals on a motorcycle, which the Israeli military identified as a Hamas commander planning attacks against soldiers. A second strike involving a drone in Gaza City killed Jamal Abu Kamil, a police commander, according to Hamas-controlled health officials.
In southern Lebanon, an Israeli airstrike on a house in the village of Ansar killed seven people and injured three others. This follows a recent peace framework mediated by the United States, which stipulates that Israeli forces will remain in southern Lebanon until Hezbollah disarms and the Lebanese army takes control. Hezbollah leadership has rejected these terms, describing the agreement as an Israeli mandate. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has stated that Israel will not withdraw from controlled areas until Hezbollah is disarmed.
