Israel conducts strikes and house demolitions in southern Lebanon
Israeli military forces have continued operations in southern Lebanon, involving artillery strikes, airstrikes, and the demolition of homes in several settlements. Reports indicate that Israeli forces mined and exploded houses in border towns, while Merkava tanks and artillery targeted residential areas and forested zones in districts such as Bint Jbeil, Nabatieh, and Tyre.
These military actions persist despite a US-mediated framework agreement signed in late June. The agreement aims to resolve the conflict through a gradual Israeli withdrawal, the deployment of the Lebanese Army, and the complete disarmament of Hezbollah. Under the terms, Israel is to maintain a security zone in southern Lebanon until Hezbollah is disarmed, while the Lebanese government views the deal as a means to restore territorial sovereignty.
Lebanese authorities report that the ongoing offensive has resulted in over 4,000 deaths, 12,000 injuries, and the displacement of more than one million people since March 2. Local officials further claim that Israel continues to control parts of southern Lebanon and has advanced more than 10 kilometers during the current offensive.
