Israel continues air strikes in southern Lebanon despite ceasefire

The Israeli army has carried out repeated air strikes on villages in Lebanon’s Nabatieh governorate, including the Bint Cubeyl district and the area around Gandur Hospital, even after a U.S‑brokered ten‑day cease‑fire and a framework agreement were signed. Since the March 2 offensive, more than 4,200 Lebanese have been killed and over a million displaced.

The sustained fighting has devastated the tourism sector in southern Lebanon. Restaurateurs and guest‑house owners in Hasbaya report that the influx of local and foreign visitors has stopped completely. One proprietor, Marsil el‑Hamra, said “Ayakta kalmaya çalışıyoruz” (we are trying to stay afloat), adding that businesses have been damaged, revenue has collapsed and operating costs remain high. Many have been forced to shut down or operate at near‑zero occupancy, while they await security guarantees and state assistance.
