Israel continues attacks on southern Lebanon, death toll rises to 8

Israel's army has kept bombing southern Lebanon despite a cease‑fire that began on 17 April and was extended on 17 May for another 45 days. Strikes hit several villages, including Düveyr in the Nebatiye district where a house belonging to former mayor Abdülaziz Kansu was destroyed, killing three people. Additional casualties were reported in Huş (one dead, four injured), Dahiye (three dead), Zehrani (one dead) and other locations such as Keferdunin, Burç Şemali, Bazuriyye, Mecdel Zun and Zıbkin, which were targeted by air, artillery and drone attacks.

The Lebanese Health Ministry has recorded a total of eight deaths from the recent Israeli assaults. Iranian officials have warned that a response is being prepared, with statements such as “Cevap yoldadır” (the answer is on the way) echoing Tehran's readiness to act. The United States has been involved in mediating cease‑fire extensions, but the attacks have continued unabated.
