Israel Defense Forces eliminate Hamas commanders linked to October 7 attacks

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the elimination of several Hamas commanders linked to the October 7 attacks.

Among those killed was Maher Walid Omar al-Husseini, a commander of the Hamas Nukhba elite unit. Al-Husseini led a cell that participated in the raid on the Re’im military base during the initial October 7 offensive, an assault that resulted in the deaths of four Israeli soldiers and injuries to seven others. The strike against al-Husseini took place in the southern Gaza Strip.

Additionally, the IDF reported the death of Momen Ahmad Salameh Ay, an affiliate of the Hamas Gaza Brigade. According to military statements, Ay was involved in holding hostages in the Gaza City area and had recently been conducting attacks against IDF troops and Israeli civilians in violation of ceasefire protocols.
