Israel discovers Hezbollah tunnel complex beneath Shaqif Castle in southern Lebanon

The Israeli Defense Forces announced the discovery of an extensive underground network underneath the historic Shaqif Castle in southern Lebanon. The tunnels, described as a Hezbollah hideout, include multiple entry points, storage rooms for weapons, launch platforms for anti‑tank rockets, ammunition depots, medical facilities, and even kitchen and bathing areas. Israeli officials said the complex was designed to enable hundreds of fighters to strike Israeli forces and that its planning and financing were linked to Iran.

The finding comes amid ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, with no cease‑fire agreement in place. Hezbollah continues to launch rockets and drone attacks toward Israeli territory, while Israeli troops maintain a security zone in southern Lebanon.
