Israel Embassy addresses death of Polish citizen Damian Soból
The Israeli Embassy in Warsaw has issued a statement regarding the investigation into the attack on a World Central Kitchen (WCK) convoy in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the deaths of Damian Soból, a Polish citizen, and six other humanitarian workers.
Israeli military authorities concluded the investigation, stating that the strike was the result of a “mistaken identification of the convoy” and that there were “no grounds to suspect the commission of a criminal act.” The embassy noted that the incident was caused by a tragic combination of circumstances, including the convoy not informing the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) about the employment of private armed security or changes to the previously agreed-upon route.
Following the incident, the IDF Chief of General Staff removed a brigade officer responsible for humanitarian aid and the brigade's chief of staff from their positions. Additionally, formal reprimands were issued to the commanders of the brigade, the 162nd Division, and the Southern Command.
