Israel escalates military operations in southern Lebanon

Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon have escalated, involving heavy artillery, airstrikes, and reported use of phosphorus shells. According to Lebanese state media, intense bombardments have targeted several areas, including Mansouri, Bayt Al-Sayyad, and Majdal Zoun, causing widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure.

In the Nabatieh region, Israeli forces conducted 28 airstrikes on the Nabatieh ridge. Reports indicate that artillery fire using phosphorus shells has targeted forested areas around Ali Al-Taher hill and other locations. Extensive demolition activities have also been reported in villages such as Bint Jubayl and Marjuyun, with many buildings destroyed by explosives.

These military actions persist despite a US-brokered ceasefire. The continued strikes on strategic locations associated with Hezbollah infrastructure suggest a heightened military focus and raise concerns regarding the stability of the ceasefire and the potential for Israeli troop withdrawal from the region.
