Israel escalates military strikes in southern Lebanon
Israeli forces have intensified military operations in southern Lebanon, conducting extensive airstrikes, artillery bombardments, and drone activities. According to the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA), Israeli artillery targeted several areas including Mansouri, Bayt al-Sayyad, and Majdal Zoun. Reports indicate that homes in Bayt al-Sayyad have sustained severe damage.
There are allegations from Lebanese media that Israel used phosphorus ammunition during artillery strikes in the Nabatieh province, specifically targeting the Dawhat Kfar Roummane area, Dabsha hill, and the forests around Ali al-Taher. Israeli warplanes also conducted multiple strikes on the Ali al-Taher ridge.
Israel has stated that these operations are intended to prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding its military capabilities and presence near the border. Tel Aviv has accused Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire agreement established in November 2024. Meanwhile, the Lebanese government has called for an end to the attacks and a full Israeli withdrawal from southern positions in accordance with UN Resolution 1701.
