Israel expands control over Gaza amid UN report on child casualties

Satellite imagery analysis shows the Israeli army has shifted the cease‑fire line in Gaza, moving concrete markers and earth embankments by several hundred metres. The expansion brings Israeli‑controlled territory to about 60% of the Strip, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stating the next step is to reach 70%.

A United Nations independent commission reports that between October 2023 and October 2025 at least 20,179 children were killed in Gaza, nearly 30 % of all fatalities. The report alleges deliberate attacks on civilians and suggests possible crimes against humanity. Israel rejected the findings, calling them a defamatory lie and insisting its forces try to limit civilian casualties, while also accusing Hamas of hijacking humanitarian aid. The stark figures have intensified international scrutiny of the conflict and the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
