Israel approves international stabilization force for Gaza under Trump peace plan FAST-MOVING
Israel’s security cabinet approved a legal framework on 26 July that permits the deployment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) into designated areas of the Gaza Strip. The force will initially consist of about 200 personnel from countries Israel considers friendly, such as Uganda and Morocco, and each contingent must receive separate Israeli approval before entering the enclave. No start date for the operation has been announced.
The decision came a day before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu travels to Washington for a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. The ISF is a key component of Trump’s 20‑point Gaza peace plan, which also calls for a pilot humanitarian zone in Rafah, temporary housing for tens of thousands of screened Palestinians and administration by a Palestinian technocratic committee. Israel presently controls roughly 64 % of Gaza and says it will expand its control to about 70 % while Hamas continues to refuse disarmament.
