Israel expands evacuation order in Tyre's Christian district

The Israeli Defense Forces issued a large‑scale evacuation order for the historic Christian district of Tyre in southern Lebanon, directing residents to move north of the Zahrani River and warning them not to travel south. It marks the first time the warning has been extended into that part of the city.

The order came after Israeli airstrikes that killed eight people and was justified by Israeli officials as a response to increased Hezbollah activity in the area. Lebanese Christian leaders, including Metropolitan Archbishop George Iskandar, said they would remain in the city and called on neighboring states and the Lebanese government to protect the community. The development occurs amid ongoing Israel‑Hezbollah hostilities and broader regional tension involving Iran and the United States.
