Israel expands presence in northern West Bank amid Gaza-style destruction

Reports indicate a significant escalation in the West Bank, with Haaretz describing the northern region as becoming a ‘miniature version of Gaza.’ This shift is attributed to the rapid establishment of new Israeli military camps and the return of settlers to areas evacuated in 2005. Systematic destruction of Palestinian infrastructure, including shops, greenhouses, and residential buildings along Route 6010, has been documented.

In the Gaza Strip, military operations continue despite existing ceasefire agreements. Recent airstrikes and demolitions in Gaza City and Khan Younis have resulted in multiple casualties. The World Health Organization has also raised concerns regarding the ongoing prevention of medical equipment and essential medicines from entering the territory.

In the West Bank, incidents of settler violence and military raids have been reported. A 19-year-old was killed by settler gunfire near Ramallah, and military forces have conducted arrests and house sieges in areas such as Tubas. Human rights researchers note that Palestinian movement is increasingly restricted by settlers and military checkpoints.
