Overview

Israeli military activity and settler violence in the West Bank continue to escalate, increasingly targeting Palestinian residents, property, and religious sites. Recent reports highlight a surge in attacks on mosques; since the beginning of the year, 13 mosques have been “violated” by Israeli forces or settlers. Settler violence resulted in direct harm to 164 citizens and the destruction of 21,508 trees, including 19,375 olive trees. Other impacts included the seizure of 1,629 dunams of land and the demolition of 155 facilities. One incident on August 21 resulted in the death of 17-year-old Karim Sanad Shalaldeh due to settler gunfire.
