Israel faces diplomatic isolation and ICC arrest warrants

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s push for an “independent security” policy has coincided with a wave of international backlash after the Gaza war that killed more than 70,000 Palestinians and left the Strip in ruins. The diplomatic fallout includes new European Union sanctions targeting several settler groups, France barring finance minister Bezalel Smotrich from entry, and growing pressure on Israel’s long‑standing reliance on U.S. military aid, which accounts for about 20% of its defence budget. Analysts warn that Israel’s isolation could deepen if its strategic alliance with the United States weakens further.
