Israel faces extreme heat wave with temperatures reaching 46 °C

A severe heat wave is sweeping Israel, with temperatures climbing to 45‑46 °C in the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea region. Inland areas such as Beit She'an, the Kinneret region and the Judean hills are seeing highs of 42‑44 °C, while coastal cities remain cooler at 31‑33 °C but endure humidity levels of 70 % or more, creating a heavy heat‑stress burden.

Meteorological services warn that the extreme heat will persist through the week, with a slight cooling expected on Tuesday and Wednesday in the interior, followed by the possibility of another temperature spike. Health officials advise the public to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged outdoor exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and take protective measures such as wearing hats, sunglasses and sunscreen. The heat wave is described as typical for the season, but the combination of high temperatures and humidity poses significant discomfort and health risks across the country.
