Israel intensifies airstrikes and artillery attacks in southern Lebanon
The Israeli military has intensified its aerial and artillery attacks against multiple locations in southern Lebanon. According to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), Israeli warplanes conducted overnight strikes targeting the Mansuri area in the Sur region, as well as the Ali Tahir heights, Al-Dabsha, and the vicinity of Dawhet Kfar Roummane.
In addition to airstrikes, Israeli forces utilized artillery shelling and carried out explosions in the villages of Majdal Zoun, Hadasa, and Tayri. Reports indicate that Israeli aircraft performed low-altitude flights and broke the sound barrier over the Sur region. While immediate casualty figures for the most recent strikes were not confirmed, the escalation follows a deadly series of attacks on August 15 that killed 11 people, including three children.
These military actions persist despite ongoing US-mediated negotiations intended to establish security arrangements and facilitate the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon. The diplomatic efforts aim to address concerns regarding Hezbollah’s presence in the region, though continued strikes have raised fears of further escalation.
