Israel intensifies military strikes in southern Lebanon
Israeli military operations have intensified in southern Lebanon despite a framework agreement reached on June 26 with U.S. mediation. Recent strikes include heavy artillery targeting the strategically significant Ali al Taher height near Nabatieh al Fawqa, impacting nearby forests and hills.
Reports indicate that Israeli forces have targeted Lebanese military personnel and civilian infrastructure. In Al-Mansuri, a Lebanese army bulldozer used for clearing debris to allow displaced civilians to return was targeted, resulting in one soldier being wounded. Additionally, the South Lebanon Water Authority reported that employees of the Bint Jubayl Water Department were targeted by fire while performing maintenance in Ayta al-Jebel.
These escalations follow the conclusion of a seventh round of negotiations in Rome regarding the implementation of the ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli forces. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the ongoing conflict has resulted in 4,333 deaths and 12,250 injuries.
