Israel intensifies Lebanon raids, killing two Hezbollah commanders
Israel has intensified military raids in southern Lebanon, targeting residential areas and infrastructure. The Israeli military confirmed the elimination of two high-ranking Hezbollah commanders. One of the targets was identified as Ali Mohammad Fakhr al-Din, also known as Abu Hassan Alaa, a prominent commander of the Badr unit. Israeli authorities accused him of planning hostile operations, including the use of explosive-laden drones.
These strikes follow a previous raid on Saturday that resulted in 13 deaths and 14 injuries. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz responded to attacks on IDF soldiers in Lebanon by stating that Israel will firmly defend its citizens and that ‘no account will remain open on any front.’
Domestically, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has renewed calls for the execution of Palestinian prisoners. Ben-Gvir stated he would do ‘the impossible’ to ensure executions are carried out via hanging, a method supported by a law approved by the Israeli parliament in March 2026 for Palestinians convicted of killing Israelis.
