Israel Issues New Administrative Detention Orders for 33 Palestinians

Israeli occupation authorities released and renewed administrative detention orders for 33 Palestinian prisoners from multiple West Bank governorates, assigning detention periods ranging from two months to six months. The orders list detainees from Ramallah, Bethlehem, Nablus, Hebron, Jenin, Jerusalem and other areas, naming individuals such as Mohammed Asama Ibrahim Matar (4 months) and Ahmed Yassin Sulaiman Muhammad Marshoud (6 months).

The Palestine Centre for Prisoner Studies reports that more than 80% of the roughly 3,324 Palestinians held under administrative detention are former released prisoners who are repeatedly re‑detained without charge. The practice disrupts education, employment and family life, with some detainees held for over 15 years and others facing repeated arrests as often as ten times. The centre calls for international pressure to impose time limits and legal safeguards on the policy.
