Israel launches new attacks in southern Lebanon, violating cease‑fire

Israel's armed forces carried out a series of artillery and air strikes across southern Lebanon on July 5‑6, hitting towns such as Hadatha, Al‑Tayri, Qantara, Kfar Tebnit, Nabatieh, Majdal Zoun and Deir Siryan. The attacks killed at least four people and injured more than 300, according to Lebanon's Ministry of Health.

The strikes come despite a provisional cease‑fire agreement signed last month that called for Israeli withdrawal from two border zones. Hezbollah parliamentarian Hassan Fadlallah condemned the pact as illegitimate and warned the resistance would not allow its implementation. Israeli and Lebanese officials are slated to meet in Rome later this month to discuss border issues and the broader negotiation process.
