Israel-Lebanon border sees increased military escalation and fires

Escalation continues along the Israel-Lebanon border as military activity and fires impact southern Lebanon. In Dermamas, a Civil Defense team was forced to withdraw after coming under fire from the Israeli army while attempting to extinguish a fire near the Litani River. This incident follows a similar event the previous night where shells were fired near a civil defense team during cooling operations.

Concurrently, fires have spread across the Marjayoun Plain toward the airport road due to artillery shelling, active winds, and dry vegetation. In the western sector, Israeli warplanes conducted raids on the town of Al-Mansouri.

On the military front, tensions remain high following a Hezbollah explosive drone strike on August 14 that wounded three Israeli soldiers in the Ali al-Taher Ridge area. While Israel has responded with strikes targeting Hezbollah infrastructure and commanders, concerns persist regarding Hezbollah's ability to maintain underground networks and operational capacity in the areas between the Litani River and the Israeli border.
